Map Analytics & Item Tracking
Measure public and embedded map performance with billable vs. raw views, marker and shape click tracking, outbound link attribution, referring domains, visitor countries, devices, and embed environments.
Overview & Accessing Analytics
Layerpin Map Analytics gives you a unified dashboard to understand how visitors discover, view, and interact with your published maps and website embeds. Track daily traffic trends, identify your most popular markers and shapes, measure outbound call-to-action link clicks, and inspect audience distribution across referring websites, countries, devices, and embed environments.
Where to Open Map Analytics: From your Maps Dashboard, open the card menu on any map and select Analytics, or inside the Map Editor click More > View analytics in the bottom-left rail. Trial accounts can explore a 2-month interactive sample dataset before upgrading to publish and track live visitor traffic.
Compare billable views against raw page loads over time, and break down your audience by referring domain, visitor country (with regional flags), device type, and standalone vs. iframe embed environment.
See which pins and boundary zones attract the most attention with stacked Item Clicks and Link Clicks rankings, helping you optimize floorplan layouts and call-to-action placement.
Views Over Time (Billable vs. Raw)
The top time-series chart plots daily map loads across your selected date range using two distinct metrics so you can separate unique visitor sessions from repeat page reloads:
Deduplicated visitor sessions that count toward your monthly plan allowance. Rapid reloads by the same visitor within the deduplication window, map owner previews, and automated bots are automatically excluded from billable views.
Total public link and embedded iframe view requests recorded before session deduplication rules are applied. Comparing Raw Views against Billable Views shows how frequently returning visitors reload or revisit your map during the same session.
Item Tracking (Item Clicks & Link Clicks)
Item Tracking measures how visitors interact with individual markers and vector shapes on your published map. Events are grouped into a two-stage engagement funnel and ranked in a horizontal stacked bar chart:
Recorded when a visitor clicks an unselected marker or shape on the canvas, opens the map via a deep link (?item=...), or selects 'Show info' from the item context menu.
Recorded when a visitor triggers a direct item URL, clicks an action button inside an Info Card, clicks a hyperlink inside an Info Card markdown description, or selects 'Open item URL' from the context menu.
- Top Item Highlight: Displays the single marker or shape with the highest combined clicks and link clicks during the selected period.
- Top 5 Chart & Expandable List: The stacked bar chart highlights your top 5 items and groups remaining activity into 'Other items'. Click 'Show all items' below the chart to inspect the complete ranked list with per-item click and link totals.
Audience Breakdowns (7 Dimensions)
Below Item Tracking, interactive breakdown cards group your visitors across 7 distinct audience dimensions with ranking bars, share percentages, and one-click filtering:
Shows visitor countries with regional flags in tiles, tooltips, and ranked tables, alongside municipal city-level attribution paired with national origin.
Tracks referring websites, normalized host domains, and compares standalone public map link views (/m/…) against embedded iframe views (/embed/…).
Segments traffic across Desktop, Mobile, and Tablet visitors so you can tailor marker density, label sizes, and Info Card presentation modes to your primary screen form factor.
Inspect browser distribution (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, Brave) and visitor operating systems (macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, Linux, ChromeOS).
Date Ranges & URL Synchronization
Control reporting timeframes and share specific filtered views directly with teammates:
Select preset periods (Today, 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, This month, 60 days) or pick custom date ranges in your local time zone with responsive bottom drawers on mobile.
Active date ranges, item focus, and dimension filters synchronize automatically to the browser URL, allowing you to bookmark or share filtered analytics views directly with teammates.
Anti-Spam Protection & Visitor Privacy
Analytics automatically filters out spam and accidental repeat activity so your numbers reflect genuine visitor interest while protecting visitor privacy.
Repeated page reloads, rapid duplicate clicks on the same item, automated bots, and your own visits while signed in as the map owner are automatically filtered out so they do not inflate your view or click totals.
Analytics only records aggregated totals—such as daily views, countries, device types, and item clicks. Layerpin does not use tracking cookies, collect personal information, or store visitor IP addresses.
